Launch of the TagMPR project: a revolution in the traceability of recycled raw materials

Olnica, expert in material marking and authentication solutions, announces the launch of the TagMPR project in collaboration with its partners ComposiTIC and Elixance Polymers. This ambitious project aims to provide a concrete solution to the challenges of plastics recycling by developing a unique traceability process aligned with European and French circular economy objectives.

At present, the lack of reliable methods for demonstrating the use of recycled raw materials (RRM) in products is an obstacle to the eco-modulation of recycling channels. As regulations such as the AGEC law and European initiatives aim to increase the use of recycled plastics in consumer products, TagMPR provides a key technological solution.

The TagMPR project aims to provide end customers with a guarantee of the percentage of recycled raw materials used to manufacture these products. To achieve this, the consortium will develop plastic granules based on recycled raw materials from Brittany, into which molecular tracers will be introduced. The project benefits from a strong partnership between Olnica, ComposiTIC and Elixance Polymers. Olnica will develop the traceability system, ComposiTIC will formulate the materials, and Elixance Polymers will produce the compounds from recycled materials.

Unlike traditional documentary traceability approaches, TagMPR will use Olnica uniquely coded molecular taggants to accurately quantify the usage rate of recycled materials. This technology goes beyond current systems by offering physical, measurable proof of the integration of RRM into end products.

With this method, it will be possible to check the utilization rate of RRMs in real time and guarantee their compliance, thus enhancing transparency for end-users.

“TagMPR offers a different approach to the traceability of recycled raw materials. We are developing a technology that will not only enable real-time verification of the use of recycled materials, but will also contribute to the circular economy by guaranteeing process transparency. This project paves the way for a new era of intelligent recycling, in line with France and Europe environmental objectives”, comments Nicolas Kerbellec, founder and COO of Olnica.

This project reflects the commitment of Olnica and its partners to innovation in the service of sustainable development and a more responsible industry.
TagMPR is supported by the Brittany Region, Rennes Métropole, the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund), and Vannes agglomération, with accreditation from the EMC2 and Images et Réseaux competitiveness clusters.
